Fuerza Bruta @ Volkswagen Arena

You know those theatre performances that you go to and are so blown away that you struggle to comprehend what you have just seen? Where you end up bugging your friends for days digesting, gushing, and reminiscing about it? Fuerza Bruta is an extreme example of all of this and if there is one show you see in the remainder of 2016, this should be it. The performances run from Wednesday 16 through Sunday 27 November at Volkswagen Arena, with tickets priced at 250 TL and available via Biletix (with some dates already sold out).

First performed thirteen years ago in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fuerza Bruta – literally “brute force” in Spanish – has traveled around the world to fifteen countries and been met with audience amazement wherever it goes. Its non-reliance on words means it is instantly transferable to international audiences and a variety of arenas, as its “360 degree” structure provides relentless energy and brings audience members into play.

Somewhere between a circus performance and a conceptual immersive event, the less said about the actual content of the show the better; Fuerza Bruta works best with a hefty slice of shock value. With over two million people having seen the show to date, the chance to see it here in Istanbul should not be overlooked – its admittedly hefty price tag will end up feeling like an investment in an epic memory. The only things to know are that you will be standing the entire time, you will be struggling to properly describe it for days afterwards, and you might get wet…

Joey is a friendly wannabe hipster from London trying to make it in the big city as a lifestyle and travel writer. But now the big city isn't London, it's Istanbul, although much of the parameters are the same, other than the weather, lifestyle, food, people, culture and language. He is lucky to be able to grow a beard to help him fit in, although the real reason he has one is so he looks older than 14. Passions include playing music, beer and ice cream.
