From the author:

Mor Kaftan Art Gallery is located on Nevzemin Sk. No:13, in Bahariye, Kadıköy. It’s a two-fold, very cute old Kadıköy building. It was opened by two architects to introduce the past with future, in 2011. The gallery holds exhibitions of different art branches including ceramics, marbling, calligraphy and many more. Mor Kaftan Art Gallery is a place where Anatolian symbols turn into objects. The gallery brings together the artists and craftsmen who work on pieces of Anatolian cultures with new perspective and interpretation. Also, this gallery gives traditional and modern artists a chance to show their unique works with historical influences. Mor Kaftan held very special exhibitions such as Turkish painter and poet Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu’s poems and Can Ersal’s watercolor paintings with Sunay Akın’s poems written on them.

Mor Kaftan Art Gallery currently holds a new exhibition of painter and illustrator Ahmet Güçsav’s illustrations which were inspired by architect and photographer Berna Karadoğan’s Istanbul photos. The first floor welcomes you with your favourite scenes of a ferry ride such as Haydarpaşa, Maiden’s Tower and Galata Tower. Also, many interpretations of Anatolian symbols can be seen around the room together with Karadoğan’s photos and Güçsav’s illustrations. The second floor takes you on tour around old Istanbul. Photos from the palaces and mosques with an unusual perspective of Berna Karadoğan can be seen together with colorful illustrations and touch ups of Ahmet Güçsav. Both artists didn’t forget about Istanbul’s essential residents; seagulls. Also, some glasswork of various artists are exhibited and purchasable.
