As part of Swallow the Sun, Avatarium and Dark Matter Doom Over Istanbul concerts, Zorlu PSM will be hosting with %100 Studio on the evening of October 23!

In Doom Over Istanbul, which was held for the first time this year, Swallow the Sun from Finland, Avatarium from Sweden and Dark Matter from Iran come together at Zorlu Performing Arts Center. The long-awaited 3 groups, Duality and Vera Music, will meet their audiences in Turkey.

Swallow the Sun

Having made a name for itself in 2000 with the initiatives of Juha Raivio, Swallow the Sun released its first album, The Morning Never Came, in 2003. The Finnish doom/death metal band came in third in the Best Promising Band category of the Finnish Metal Awards with this album. Later on, the band went on their first European tour and announced their music to the masses at various festival stages. Having gained a considerable audience in 2 years, Swallow the Sun released Ghost of Loss in 2005, Hope in 2007, Plague of Butterflies in 2008, New Moon in 2009 and Emerald Forest and the Blackbird in 2012. In the melancholic universe created by the band, the emotional compositions left an indelible mark on the audience. The universe, where every soul can find a place for themselves, has expanded over the years. Taking a big step with the album When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light in 2019, the Finnish band produced a piece that crowned their entire career with 2021 Moonflower. Leaving 20 years behind, Swallow the Sun is coming to Istanbul for the first time on October 23 as a name that brings together the melancholic ranks of doom metal and leads the dark music.

Avatarium

Heavy doom band Avatarium is a project started in 2013 by Candlemass masterminds Leif Edling, Marcus Jidell and Jennie-Ann Smith. Edling, the inspiration for his doom metal compositions, sought to introduce his music with Avatarium in a different way and to achieve a unique taste by using female vocals. The band released their first album under their own name in late 2013, thanks to the deep, blues-toned vocals of the band Jennie-Ann Smith. and became the sought-after fresh blood of doom metal. After the album, two years passed with concerts and structuring, and the think tank collected his compositions. It debuted The Girl with the Raven Mask in 2015, Hurricanes and Halos in 2017, and The Fire I Long For in 2019. During this time, Leif Edling’s contribution to the albums continued to decrease. Currently, the band’s production is centered around Marcuss and Jennie-Ann. Leif, on the other hand, is a consultant behind the group he has planted and grown. Avatarium, with Andreas Habo Johansson on the drums, Mats Rydström on the bass guitar and Rickard Nilsson on the keyboards, left its infancy behind, ready to fly, and delivered the first Istanbul concert on October 23 as a group. will be at Zorlu PSM for

Dark Matter

Iranian dark/doom metal band Dark Matter is announcing its music from historical lands to the world by facing all the difficulties in its geography. He released his debut album Nebula to Black Hole in 2020. The special feature of this 8-track album is that it touches 12 countries and brings 17 guest musicians together around doom metal. Dark Matter is working hard to open Doom Over Istanbul. In the first event held with the concept of doom metal in Turkey, there will be moments where melancholy dominates and music fills the hall with fast tempo from time to time. October 23, 2022 will go down in history as the day when Istanbul will go deep into doom metal and purify its soul.
