Ghostly Kisses brings its atmospheric blend of indie dream-pop and understated electronic music to Paribu Art on Friday 20 November. The Québec-based project, led by singer-songwriter Margaux Sauvé alongside composer and pianist Louis-Étienne Santais, has developed a distinctive sound built around delicate vocals, layered instrumentation and introspective songwriting. Moving between ethereal pop, cinematic arrangements and intimate lyricism, the duo has earned an international following for music that finds emotional depth in restraint, with a catalogue that continues to evolve through its exploration of memory, distance and human connection. Tickets are available via Paribu Pass.
Originally established as Sauvé’s solo recording project, Ghostly Kisses gradually developed into a creative partnership with Santais, whose production and compositional work helped shape its atmospheric identity. Sauvé’s background as a classically trained violinist informs much of the project’s musical character, bringing a sensitivity to melody and arrangement that complements its electronic foundations. Early releases including What You See (2017) and The City Holds My Heart (2018) introduced a sound that balanced soft, haunting vocals with gradually unfolding synths, piano and orchestral textures. The subsequent EPs Alone Together and Never Let Me Go further established the project’s interest in the space between dream-pop and more organic, emotionally direct songwriting.
Their 2022 debut full-length, Heaven, Wait, marked an important step in that development, bringing together the project’s earlier atmospheric tendencies in a more expansive collection of songs. This was followed by Darkroom (2024), a record shaped in part by anonymous letters and personal stories shared by listeners, extending Sauvé’s songwriting into a more collaborative exploration of intimacy and vulnerability. Their newer material, including the album Across the Pond, continues to examine separation, belonging and the shifting nature of personal relationships, while incorporating delicate electronic details and broader orchestral arrangements. Live, these elements give Ghostly Kisses’ carefully layered recordings a more immediate presence, with Sauvé’s restrained vocal delivery remaining at the centre of the experience.
