Blending alternative rock, punk and hip-hop genres with a unique spirit, KUM is among the prominent names of the local scene, and will be our guest on October 13 as part of Vans Music Night!
Burkut Kum, a.k.a. KUM, who spent his life commuting between the cities of Izmir, England and Istanbul, took part in experimental Soundcloud rap ensembles that blend alternative rock, post-punk and trap genres at the age of 14 and shared his mixtapes under different names. The artist, who took a break from music and focused on painting at the age of 16, settled in Istanbul and organized exhibitions with local and international artists in his studio, which he converted from a carpentry shop. He returned to England a few years later and formed the band Badgirl$ with the Manchester duo he met during that time. The group that publishes demo shorts on Soundcloud, which has not a high number of listeners; Signed with Sony UK. KUM, who undertook the songwriting and production of the group that brought together Britpop, punk and trap genres; He released 1 mixtape and 3 singles until the age of 23 and took the stage as the front group of artists such as Rosalia, Machine Gun Kelly and Bakar. He left the group in mid-2020 and returned to Urla. The musician, who made a rapid debut on the domestic stage with his viral song “To My Enemies” while serving in the military in Turkey, released his debut album “Everything Will Be Beautiful” in 2021. Continuing the tradition of singer and songwriter while combining different genres of rock and hip-hop, KUM continues to perform on stage with Bedouins.
