(May 12 – June 30) “Poetics of Inner Space” @ Pi Artworks

Pi Artworks will host the personal exhibition of Kemal Seyhan “Poetics of Inner Space” in Karaköy between Saturday, 12 May and Saturday, 30 June. In addition to the artist’s paintings, the exhibition will also include sculptural works that will be exhibited for the first time.

From the organizer:

The starting point of Kemal Seyhan’s “Anonymous / Poetics of Inner Space” exhibition is based on his artistic dialogue with writers, poets and philosophers. Having developed his works from 1980s on an abstract language which is far from all kinds of narrators and descriptive elements, Seyhan’s approach refers to the forty years’ history of his art practice, starting from different points in this exhibition. The artist has been aiming to become a bridge between the inside and the outside world by turning to the concept of “space” in Vienna and turning into a “shell internalization” of his researches.

In this exhibition of Seyhan, it is possible to observe that the phenomenon of space is a cell membrane that opens new possibilities for visual experience to the spectators both physically and emotionally. The head and the tail of the imaginary universe that the artist has set out from the unusual briquetting path is not certain. While not being able to define this area as a skeleton, the artist has designed an area that can be accessed through imagination and imagery, and the doors of different aesthetic experiments are also drawn by the abstract paintings of the same intensity.

Just your average foreign student. Passionate about travelling, gender equality and getting into debates. Deluding herself constantly that she’ll learn Turkish. Trying to make “the adulting thing” work out. Always replying “you know, like the music... jazz” when asked on how to pronounce her name. Her goal in life is to be happy. Her dream is to start a NGO about the unfortunate children that don’t have access to education. Yeah, she dreams big...
