No Land bring their cross-cultural blend of alternative folk, jazz and world music to %100 Studio Zorlu PSM on Friday 30 October. Formed by musicians with Iranian, Azerbaijani and Turkish backgrounds, the collective builds its sound around the interplay of acoustic and electric guitars, violin, cello, bass, drums and trumpet, pairing richly layered arrangements with lyrics in multiple languages. Their music moves between regional musical traditions and contemporary songwriting, creating a repertoire shaped by questions of identity, belonging and the connections that persist across cultural boundaries. Tickets are available via Passo.
Founded in 2012, No Land takes its name from the film No Man’s Land, a reference to the varied backgrounds of its members. The group established its musical identity through Aramızda (2016), a debut album that brought together the songwriting and arrangements developed during its early years. Their follow-up, Pusulası Kaybolmuş (2019), continued this exploration of musical traditions and contemporary textures, balancing introspective melodies with a broader, ensemble-driven sound.
A defining feature of No Land’s work is its multilingual approach. Songs in Turkish, Azerbaijani, Persian and Russian reflect the collective’s cultural range without reducing its music to a straightforward fusion of regional styles. Instead, strings, guitar lines and rhythmic shifts create space for the distinct character of each song, while the arrangements maintain a cohesive musical identity. Their live performances bring these elements into closer conversation, highlighting the interplay between the instruments and the expressive qualities of the vocals. The 30 October concert offers an opportunity to experience a body of work that treats cultural diversity not as a concept to illustrate, but as a natural starting point for making music.
