Singer-songwriter Tanita Tikaram performs at Zorlu PSM Turkcell Stage on Tuesday 1 December, presented by Stagepass. Tikaram made an extraordinary debut in 1988 with Ancient Heart, released when she was just eighteen years old. The album introduced her unmistakable contralto voice and introspective songwriting, producing enduring singles such as “Twist in My Sobriety” and “Good Tradition.” Selling more than four million copies worldwide, Ancient Heart became one of the defining singer-songwriter albums of its era, distinguished by its understated arrangements and lyrical maturity.
Over the years, Tikaram has continued to develop a catalogue that extends well beyond her early success. Albums including The Sweet Keeper, Lovers in the City, Sentimental and Closer to the People explored themes of identity, memory and social observation while incorporating elements of jazz, folk and contemporary pop. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to a thoughtful, literary style of songwriting rather than following changing musical trends.
Released in 2025, LIAR (Love Isn’t a Right) marks her first collection of new material in almost a decade.
