On Monday 6 July, Brazilian Night with Mari Froes will take place at The Marmara Esma Sultan Yalısı as part of the 33rd Istanbul Jazz Festival from IKSV, bringing the vibrant spirit of Brazilian music to the stage. The evening will highlight the warm rhythms and melodic richness of contemporary Brazilian sounds. Tickets are available via Passo.
Brazilian singer-songwriter Mari Froes has quickly emerged as one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary Latin music. Known for her warm, expressive vocals and understated stage presence, the young artist creates music that feels both intimate and deeply atmospheric.
Performing in Portuguese, Froes blends elements of samba, bossa nova, and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) with touches of jazz, folk, and soft rock. The result is a sound that moves fluidly between gentle acoustic moments and rhythm-driven passages, carrying the emotional depth and melodic richness long associated with Brazilian music.
Froes first began attracting attention online through simple acoustic performances recorded with guitar in hand. Her interpretation of Baco Exu do Blues’ “Girassóis de Van Gogh” soon spread widely across social media, introducing her voice to millions of listeners and marking the beginning of a rapidly growing international following.
Since then, she has released a series of original songs that helped shape her early career, including the singles “Moça” and “Rosa e Laranja” in 2019, followed by the EP Nebulosa in 2020. More recently, her collaboration with French electronic duo Trinix on the track “Vaitimbora” expanded her audience even further and became one of 2025’s most widely shared international releases.
After performing to sold-out crowds during her recent European tours, Mari Froes now arrives in Istanbul with a performance centered on warmth, melody, and connection. Brazilian Night offers an evening shaped by the textures of Brazilian music, where rhythmic grooves, acoustic arrangements, and Froes’ distinctive voice come together to create a vivid and immersive atmosphere.
