(June 30) Marcus Miller presents ‘WE WANT MILES!’ @ Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre

On Tuesday 30 June, Marcus Miller performs at Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre as part of the 33rd Istanbul Jazz Festival, organized by IKSV. Widely regarded as one of the most influential bassists in modern jazz, Miller has built a career that bridges jazz, funk, soul, and R&B through a distinctive combination of technical precision and groove-driven composition. On this special evening Miller will honor the life and legacy of the iconic Miles Davis. Tickets are available via Passo.

Emerging in the late 1970s, Miller quickly became one of the most sought-after musicians in contemporary music. Over the decades he has collaborated with major artists including Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, and David Sanborn, contributing as a bassist, producer, and composer. His work is often marked by a signature slap bass technique and a style that moves fluidly between improvisation and tightly structured arrangements.

For the festival’s opening concert, Miller brings his project WE WANT MILES!, revisiting music connected to Miles Davis’s electric era. The performance celebrates one of jazz’s most influential musical partnerships while bringing its spirit to a contemporary stage.
