Recognised as one of the finest singers of her generation, Chiara Civello will bring an Italian breeze to the 32nd Istanbul Jazz Festival on Saturday, 5 July, with songs from Canzoni Deluxe Edition. This unforgettable evening is presented by İKSV and will take place in the enchanting garden of the Consulate General of Italy. Get your tickets now at Passo!
The New York-based Italian musician first captivated audiences with her extraordinary vocal range, graceful command of instruments, and remarkable songwriting in her debut album, Last Quarter Moon, which was hailed by critics as an outstanding debut. Often compared to legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Shirley Horn, Civello went on to explore a wide musical spectrum, drawing inspiration from pop, cabaret, and Latin music – always maintaining a deep connection to jazz. Tony Bennett described her as “the best jazz singer of her generation.”
In her 2014 album Canzoni, Civello reimagined Italian love songs, blending them with jazz, soul, and bossa nova. A decade later, she celebrates the album’s success with Canzoni Deluxe Edition, featuring English versions of the songs along with new tracks. Accompanied by Ameen Salim on bass, Domenico Sanna on piano, Marco Acquarelli on guitar, and Stefano Costanzo on drums, Civello will take the festival stage with a performance rich in melancholy, love, passion, and romance.
The Italian evening will be set in motion by three young talents: pianist Hakan Başar — recognised by jazz legend Chick Corea as one of the musicians carrying his legacy forward — will take the stage with his trio, joined by Italian double bass player and composer Michelangelo Scandroglio, and accomplished drummer Enes Yeldemir. This magical concert is part of the 32nd Istanbul Jazz Festival, organised by İKSV and tickets are available on Passo!
