Scottish post-rock pioneers Mogwai are set to make a triumphant return to Istanbul on Saturday, October 11. The band will perform at the iconic Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theatre, marking their first appearance in the city in over a decade. The concert is organized by Epifoni and presented with the support of Garanti BBVA, promising an unforgettable evening for fans of the genre. Tickets on sale soon.
Formed in Glasgow in 1995, Mogwai has been at the forefront of the post-rock scene, known for their expansive soundscapes and dynamic compositions. Their latest album, The Bad Fire, released earlier this year, continues to showcase their innovative approach to music. The band’s lineup includes Stuart Braithwaite (guitar, vocals), Barry Burns (guitar, piano, synthesizer, vocals), Dominic Aitchison (bass guitar), and Martin Bulloch (drums).
Often labeled as “post-rock,” Mogwai’s music doesn’t just fill a room, it wraps around you. Without relying on lyrics, they manage to say more with sound than most bands ever do with words. Their songs often start quietly, almost like a whisper, then slowly swell into something massive and emotional. One minute you’re floating, the next you’re hit with a wave of noise that feels like it could knock you over in the best way. It’s music that makes you feel things you didn’t expect.
Whether you’re walking alone with headphones or standing in a crowd at one of their shows, Mogwai’s sound has a way of getting under your skin and staying with you. Tickets for this upcoming event will be available soon.
