Friday:

Performed innumerable times at concert venues in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya…”
Starting: “The Wall”: A Sound Installation @ Sanatorium – “By using soundscapes played through simulated wall acoustics and transparency, the installation augments this natural behaviour and becomes a tool for the concretisation of the invisible walls between people, events, communities and hidden facts. These become alive as an audio documentation. The visitor will experience the physical installation space through the embedded interactions of a defined sonic territory from both sides of a wall.”
Seminar: Experiencing the National by Alexandros Charkiolakis @ Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi Galata Campus – “We are happy to host Alexandros Charkiolakis from ITU MIAM for our first seminar in the seminar series organized in collaboration with BAU Choral School and Choral Culture Association. The seminar will focus on comparing Turkish and Greek national music movements and will be held in English.
Saturday:
BaBa ZuLa @ Salon IKSV – “The crew of Baba Zula constantly changes and expands with guest musicians joining in, in every new gig. Turkish folk music marinated in dubby electronic sounds, improvisations between a wide array of traditional Turkish music genres are what made Baba Zula known as the opium of the masses. They have participated in world-class festivals and introduced newly emerging Turkish psychedelic music to the whole world.”
Insanlar / Hayvanlar Alemi @ Babylon Bomonti – “Insanlar combines Anatolia’s ancient roots with the modern electronic music forms and improvisation patters. With successful performances both in Turkey and Europe, the band gained the spotlight in 2015 with their album ‘Kime Ne’ / Psychedelic folk rock band Hayvanlar Alemi began their musical journey by covering various other bands. The band then discovered freestyle improvisation and stepped into a more experimental territory, utilising traditional instruments and “invented sounds”, thereby leading to a colourful and theatrical image on stage.”
Ending: “Library for Memory and Eternity (Twin)” @ Ariel Sanat – “Sharing in his nomadic nature, Sarkis’ work, shifting back and forth through time, invites the viewer to embark on journeys amid layers of memory. For memory is always plural, both thin stream and gushing river, each with its different sound, flow and channel. Sarkis listens to and records these sounds and movements as attentively as a seismographer, feeling them with his hands.”
Kolektif Jammin’ @ Kolektif House – “At Kolektif House’s Jam Sessions, the stage belongs to us, to all of us! Pick up whichever instrument grabs your fancy, and let’s create the music together. Don’t feel like playing? Then come and dance the night away!”
Wingmen and Housing Crash @ Pendor Corner – Local acts with international musicians.
“Before the Flood” Documentary Night @ Circuit – “Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese (Executive Producer) have joined together once again, this time for their first documentary addressing environmentalism. The film discusses the alarming advances of climate change and the pressing need to take action to save our planet. Broadcast on National Geographic and released free online in the lead up to the US Presidential election, the film has made major efforts to reach the largest audience possible and raise awareness for this pressing crisis that affects us all.”

Quiz Night for Cats @ Arsen Lüpen – “Quiz nights also feature a regular raffle, so you’re even more likely to walk away with a prize. All proceeds go to help street animals.”
Ending: “Who Throws Whom Overboard?” @ SALT Galata – “The exhibition brings together photographic works, wall texts, films and installations addressing migration, borders, citizenship, capital and alternative economics. It does not suggest that these “issues” are related in terms of policy, but rather that they can be read as the conjoined faces of an ongoing, global crisis.”
Ending: “It’s Time To Paint Flowers Again” @ Gallery Ilayda – “Made of various materials, his human and animal figures, imaginary characters and installations spreading around gallery spaces all represent justice, hope and freedom in a quite ambiguous and incoherent manner. These are not single sculptures but rather complete figure-stories based on März’s own texts. The show ‘It’s time to paint flowers again’ presents a cross-section from works created over the last two years.”
Sunday Matinee at AU Terasse – Sertaç Kazan, Özgür Bay, Lilly, Sarp Akat, Saru, Murat Turgut…
Ongoing:
“When Did We Stop Playing?” @ Anna Laudel Contemporary – “Through framing the question ‘When did we stop playing?’, the exhibition aims to explore the great, universal game of life in our shared, contemporary existence.”
“Creations / Creatures of the Mind” @ Bozlu Art Project – “In his exhibition, the artist who calls the audiences to reconsider and imagine through their daily lives focuses the people who will wake up their sleeps of mind and will recreate themselves in a marginalized, alienated society.”
“Cold Front from the Balkans” @ Pera Museum – “The exhibition focuses on different generations of artists and art groups from the Balkan region. The exhibition avoids the usual unflattering political connotations the region’s name inevitably brings up but instead focuses on a natural phenomenon — the wind.”

The exhibition Wanderer on the Sea of Light presents Ziem as an artist who left his mark on 19th century painting and who is mostly known for his paintings of Istanbul and Venice, where the city and the sea are intertwined.”
“EU 48/6/N” @ Elgiz Museum – “Rahmi Aksungur is a highly influential sculptor and academician whose body of work has made a significant contribution to contemporary sculpture in Turkey.”
