The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) is delighted to announce an immersive evening of sonic and visual exploration featuring Forest Swords, the innovative electronic music project of British artist Matthew Barnes. On December 16th, 2023, Salon IKSV will be the epicenter of an audiovisual journey that promises to redefine the boundaries of music and art. Doors open at 21:00 and tickets available via Passo.

Forest Swords has garnered international acclaim for pushing the boundaries of electronic music, fusing elements of ambient, dub, and experimental sounds. Known for his evocative compositions and captivating live performances, Matthew Barnes brings a unique blend of audio and visual elements to his shows, creating an unforgettable multisensory experience.

From the organizer:

Forest Swords is currently making a name for itself with its new single ‘Butterfly Effect’. The track was triggered by a beat Barnes made in the cold factory space in Liverpool, in an attempt to cope with the psychedelic amounts of pain he was in from a leg injury. Then joined a previously-unheard vocal sample by the legendary singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry. Accompanied by an ‘ancient-futurist’ video created with visual artist Sam Wiehl, the track’s B-side features a a woozily euphoric ambient piece, ‘Tar’. Since his critically acclaimed studio album, Compassion, Barnes has produced many works as a composer and sound designer such as compositions for the Oslo Ballet, a computer game called As Dusk Falls, and a Sundance award-winning film. Released in 2017, Compass was named ‘Album of the Day’ on BBC 6 Music, and was endorsed by PitchforkBillboardi-DDazed and Resident Advisor.

More information can be found on the official Salon IKSV website, tickets are available via Passo.
