(Past Event) Elias Rønnenfelt @ Blind

Elias Rønnenfelt, the enigmatic frontman of Danish outfit Iceage, is set to bring his evolving solo project to the stage at Blind on Tuesday, 31 March. Presented by %100 Music, the performance marks a significant moment for the contemporary alternative scene, highlighting an artist who has successfully transitioned from the abrasive edges of post-punk into a more expansive, experimental pop territory. Rønnenfelt has earned a reputation for a singular aesthetic that balances dark, introspective lyricism with a restless approach to genre, making this appearance a notable highlight for those following the vanguard of European independent music. Tickets are available via Bubilet.

The foundation of Rønnenfelt’s career remains inextricably linked to Iceage. This band emerged from Copenhagen’s punk underground in the early 2010s to become one of the most critically acclaimed acts of the decade. Across albums like New Brigade and Plowing Into the Field of Love, he established a vocal style that was both desperate and commanding, helping to define a new era of art-punk. However, his recent trajectory has seen him move toward a more personal and collaborative framework. His debut solo effort, Heavy Glory, released in 2024, signaled a shift toward acoustic textures and a more vulnerable songwriting style, stripping back the noise to focus on the raw emotional weight of his delivery.

His latest studio work, Speak Daggers (2025), represents a further maturation of this solo identity. Written and recorded in the brief windows between international tours, the album is a dense, atmospheric collection that benefits from a diverse array of contributors, including the legendary reggae group The Congos and contemporary innovators like Erika de Casier and Fine. This record demonstrates Rønnenfelt’s ability to weave disparate influences into a cohesive whole, moving beyond the limitations of a traditional rock frontman to become a curator of complex, multi-layered soundscapes.

Beyond his primary output, Rønnenfelt has maintained a prolific presence through various high-profile collaborations that underscore his boundary-pushing philosophy. His work with Dean Blunt under the moniker Lucre, as well as projects with Jonatan Leandoer96 and Fousheé, reflects a career defined by constant movement and a refusal to be pinned down by a single movement or scene.
