Sivil Yaşam Derneği (Civil Life Association), Let’s do it, Türkiye, and JCI Türkiye are working together with the official World Cleanup Day to involve Istanbul in the initiative on Friday Saturday 15 September. Interested participants can download the app (iOS/Android) and get notified of nearby efforts to join.

Would you like to participate the biggest non-governmental movement of the World which makes the history on 15th September 2018?
It is estimated that every year 100 million tons of solid waste is produced in the world. According to the waste report for 2012 which is prepared by World Bank, Turkey produce 86,301 tons of solid waste; hence it is ranked at 12th row among 161 countries. If Turkey continue to produce solid waste with same volume, it is expected that Turkey would produce 135,962 tons of solid waste in 2025 and it would take the upper ranks as at 8th row.
The idea of “Let’s do it!” emerged in 2008 in Estonia which is a small Baltic country. In 3rd March, 50,000 people gathered and collected 10,000 tons of solid waste all around the country in 5 hours. The videos of the event spread quickly and later on extremely surprising results were achieved in 15 countries through single day cleaning model. The total number of participants reached 2.5 million. Until today, the cleaning events have been organized more than 100 countries and 9 million volunteers participated in those volunteer events.
During the year 2012, Let’s Do It! model was applied in many countries including Turkey through World Clean-up campaign. 1,300 people participated in cleaning events in 5 different locations in Turkey in 2012. A completely volunteer team continued the Turkey Clean-up activity on 11th May 2013 in 17 cities and 62 different location with 8,000 people. Hence, 30.4 tons of waste was removed.
On 15th September 2018, as the 10th anniversary of the project we will not only make our environment more livable through acting for a mutual purpose, we will also spread peace messages to the world.
