From the organizers:
As one of today’s leading works of the Theatre of the Absurd, Titans offers an unforgettable experience by bringing Laskaridis’ extraordinary characters and atmosphere.
“You feel the amazement of a child who is exposed to the creative power of theater for the first time at this show that is unique in its genre.”
– Le Devoir
Euripides Laskaridis, who is considered among the names that will shape the future of European theater by the critics, is in Turkey for the first time! “The Greek representative of the theater of the absurd with a tremendous charisma” (Dance Tabs) Laskaridis is a name dedicated to exploring the existence of humanity in the face of the unknown by using the themes of satire and transformation.
In Titans, which is part of a tragicomic trilogy, Laskaridis opens the doors of a metaphysical realm where reason has not yet formed. In an undefined void, a gendered cosmic being sways slightly on a swing. He’s been there long before it all began, but he needs a companion. In this universe, the ridiculous and the serious, the important and the unimportant, the light and the dark are constantly changing places. With surprises, excitement and compassion in every detail, Titans open up to discussion why we do what we do, what we really need and what we want: What prevents us from reaching the ideal concepts we always believe in and pursue? Is it human frailty, limitations, or mortality as a species, standing between our ideals and brutal reality?
Euripides Laskaridis, who was accepted to the Pina Bausch Fellowship and worked with directors such as Dimitris Papaioannou and Robert Wilson, founded his own band Osmosis in 2009. The first play of this trilogy, Relic (Relic) made a great impact as a guest at more than 30 international festivals and the world’s leading halls. Titans, the second game of the trilogy, continues to meet with audiences all over the world, from Canada to China, as well as Europe, since 2017. Laskaridis also won the 2018 Greek Queer Theater Award in the category of Best Set and Costume Design with Titans.
This transcendent play, which will not be forgotten for a long time, offers the festival audience the opportunity to explore a completely different universe, where they will leave everything they know behind and enter.
