Bozlu Art Project Nişantaşı will host the solo exhibition “The First Dream” of artist Özer Toraman through Saturday 11 March.
From the organizer:
Özer Toraman who attracts the attention with his portraits which were developed against
imposed parochial identity and sex-oriented policies will be at Bozlu Art Project Nişantaşı
between the dates 27th January – 11th March with his personal exhibition titled as “The
First Dream”. While Toraman is questioning a singularity except dualism of male/female
with his figures far from sex-oriented contours, he invites audience to a different point of
view by leaving them to their emotions, thoughts and desires.
Artist, who prefers light pastel colours especially blue and pale pink symbolising innocence, in his productions, thinks about boundaries of sex-oriented categorization and creates mixed figures which belong to neither of two sexes by reconsidering these concepts. Some of these portraits attract the attention with their sharpness, and some of these make a reference to unconscious different identities as blurred images.
Özer Toraman, who wants to attract the attention that imagination enables people to
understand life, declares that “Imagine an image limitlessly!” and while he explains the focus of the exhibition, he continues as follows:
“…I want to attract the attention to imagining and imagination with frames which I
transpose to my toils. This is because we can realize in our real life that the image is the design of future and directs life consciously or unconsciously. The image is the own reality inside human. Our reality is where we are in universe of these illusions where only reality and imaginary intertwine. Humans can be happy with –imagining- by their own without get this through someone else. Pain conditions of external reality can be removed with imagines. So that imaging is important! Imaging is to become self-sufficient. It is a satisfying tool which can remove all of the crimes. Dreams, imagines and imaginaries are reflections of our emotional world.”
