From the organizer:

Lastik will be hosting its inaugural opening in the first half of September at the height of the arts calendar in Istanbul. This premier exhibition curated by Ulaş Parkan will feature the works of Hyun Cho (1982), Tom Fellows (1983), Kerim Zapsu (1989). The exhibition, which will last until the end of October, consists of two parts. This project is the first endeavour for the Lastik Project artist initiative, established in 2017. With a diverse background spanning Baltimore, london, Melbourne, New York, San Francisco, the primary overlap for the initiative artists has been the synchronicity of (working and living in) İstanbul where all three artist currently live and work.

The plastic language that the three artists create in their production processes and storytelling stand together in this exhibition as a reflection of the sincerity of being out of the ordinary. Cho’s digital poems and mechanical assemblies include cyber-romantic and cyber-punk references, as well as being a sculptor and poet in post-modern and even post-internet times. Fellows’ Mechanical Erosion series is actually an open-ended arrangement of the reduction method in sculpture, despite the fact that it appears to be an abstract construction over the surface. The fourth dimension, which exists in the kinetic sculptures of Zapsu and is roughly designed, is the third important item that gives the display rhythm in real sense.
