(Past Event) Pictures in Motion @ Zorlu PSM

One of the most anticipated performances of the 53rd Istanbul Music Festival is “Pictures in Motion”, an imaginative collaboration that unites the worlds of classical music and contemporary dance in a powerful and unexpected way. Taking place at the Zorlu Performing Arts Center, Turkcell Platinum Stage on Friday 13 June, this groundbreaking event features renowned pianist Alexander Gadjiev and world champion breakdancer Yaman Okur, offering a fresh and immersive interpretation of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Tickets are available now via Passo.

In this 80-minute performance without an interval, Gadjiev’s expressive piano renditions intertwine with Okur’s improvised dance movements, creating a dynamic dialogue between sound and motion. Gadjiev, celebrated for his lyrical style and intellectual depth, brings a fresh perspective to Mussorgsky’s compositions. Simultaneously, Okur, known for his collaborations with artists like Madonna and Cirque du Soleil, infuses the stage with his distinctive breakdance style, reimagining the classical pieces through physical expression.

“Pictures in Motion” offers a truly unique encounter with art, where music and dance blend into a vivid, living performance. It’s an invitation to see classical works through a fresh, modern lens, one that speaks to both the mind and the senses. Audiences can expect an unforgettable experience that redefines the boundaries of classical performance, leaving them inspired long after the final note and movement.
