From the organizer:
Joining the German heavy metal movement that started in the mid-1980s, Blind Guardian has always aimed to continue their career as a team connecting with power and symphonic metal. Infused with the imaginative works of literary giants like JRR Tolkien, Stephen King, and Robert Jordan. Blind Guardian draws from the rich tapestry of fantasy literature to craft their lyrical narratives. This melding of inspirations has propelled them to a prominent position within the realm of power metal. Renowned for their storytelling prowess on stage, the Blind Guardian is now known by their fans as “The Bards”.
Released in 1992, Blind Guardian’s album “Somewhere Far Beyond” marked a significant turning point in Europe, especially in Germany. Their recent release, “The God Machine” showcases an evident continuation of their artistic journey. The band’s vocalist Hansi Kürsch sums up the new album in one sentence, “We took a lot from our own history and built a new era on that foundation.”
Hansi Kürsch and André Olbrich laid the foundation for the new album’s songs. The influence of authors is once again evident, just like in their former albums. Works such as Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archives, and The Witcher novels have a strong presence. The band also drew inspiration from “Battlestar Galactica.”
The God Machine presents a diverse array of themes encompassing modern witch hunts, paranoia, war, and the personal loss of Hansi’s mother. Combining these elements results in one of Blind Guardian’s fastest-paced and heaviest albums. Within this context, the track “Violent Shadow” showcases intense thrash riffs and dynamic percussion, while “Architects of Doom” evokes echoes of “Follow the Blind”. “Blood Of The Elves” is waiting to be performed as an anthem.
