Marcus Brown, a Baltimore-based singer-songwriter, musician, and producer known for blending New Wave, R&B, and dance music — and best known as Nourished by Time — will perform in Istanbul at Salon IKSV on Saturday 31 May. Tickets are available via Passo.
After a series of failures, creative conflicts, and heartbreaks, Marcus Brown’s journey began when he obsessively wrote songs and released them online under the title Nourished By Time. The project quickly gained attention in the UK, leading to the creation of his two-track EP Erotic Problematic. He later toured North America with post-punk band Dry Cleaning, reworking their song “Gary Ashby,” and contributed to Yaeji’s debut album With A Hammer. His second album, Erotic Probiotic 2, received critical acclaim and earned spots on “Best of 2024” lists from platforms such as Gorilla vs Bear, Pitchfork, The Guardian, and Paste.
Nourished By Time reflects his emotional journey, blending distorted ‘80s R&B, dream pop, and political observations on themes of love, labor, and existence. His ability to connect deeply with his listeners has been a key factor in his success. In 2024, Brown released the Catching Chickens EP with XL Recordings, featuring tracks like “Hell of a Ride,” which addresses loneliness in late-stage capitalism, and “Had Ya Called,” which touches on the disappointments of broken friendships.
Marcus Brown is bringing his unique sound and mesmerizing stage presence to Istanbul for a hypnotic music experience. Tickets are available via Passo.
