Babylon Bomonti will host the multi-talented performer Michael Franti on Wednesday 12 October. Doors are set to open at 20:30, while tickets are priced at 33.75 and available via Biletix.
From the organizer:
Musician, filmmaker and human rights activist Michael Franti believes in using music as a vehicle for raising global awareness, and focuses on a wide range of themes from AIDS, LGBTQ rights, homelessness, death penalty, and addiction to the justice system. Franti released 9 albums with his band Spearhead, in addition to 3 critically acclaimed solo albums. Released in 2016, “Soulrocker” not only inspires but also invites us to dance. This year, the successful musician was among the attendees of UN World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, along with Forest Whitaker and Sean Penn, to help draw attention to the resources Turkey allocates for the refugees, and to invite other nations to do the same. Franti famously declined to cancel his performance in Istanbul in 2003 following terrorist attacks, saying that he “make[s] music for the people, especially for those facing difficulties.” In these times of great challenges, Franti’s messages will surely help us hold fast to our hope for a better tomorrow.
