Babylon Bomonti, as part of the Akbank Jazz Festival, will host Ali Perret’s DU.DU for Mehmet Uluğ Night on Tuesday 18 October. Set to start at 21:30, tickets are priced from 10 TL to 30 TL and available via Biletix.
From the organizer:
A musical fusion of melancholic Anatolian tunes and chaotic sounds of multicultural New York, DU.DU is a project by the world-renowned duduk (double reed flute) player Suren Asaduryan from Yerevan and jazz pianist Ali Perret. This project promotes different cultures living in peace together, creating a new universal language by combining modern western harmony with the ballads of Anatolia resulting from thousands of years of cultural synthesis. The band’s repertoire mostly consists of improvisations, which are based on Ali Perret’s songs, modern interpretations of Anatolian Ballads by Suren Asaduryan and the contributions of Oğuz Büyükberber. The band is also accompanied by the percussion master Berkant Çakıcı – who also works with Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, world-famous Greek composer/double bass player Apostolos Sideris and young violinist Giannis Poulious.
