Hobo Kitchen Bar will host a three-day Mexican Take Over from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 August. The celebration of Mexican culinary delights brings renowned international chefs to Istanbul for a program full of delicious food and drink, including after-work aperitifs, a proper dinner, and a feisty Sunday brunch. Pica Rico translates to “Spicy Delicious” and is the brand name of married couple Jennifer Herrera & Matt Pipe, curators of exciting Mexican pop up kitchens in London, Berlin and now Istanbul. The team joined by Berlin Chef Sina Sucuka will appear at Hobo for 3 days with authentic Mexican flavours.
After cooking around the world and meeting in Dubai, the pair opened their first pop up “Taqueria” in London to rave reviews. After the residency they went to Jenn’s home country of México where they ate their way around the republic learning about all the characteristic flavours of Mexican cuisine. With their new found knowledge they decided on Berlin as the city to take their unique coking style. This is where they designed the food concept for the hugely popular “La Lucha” restaurant. Now focused solely on their own brand, their new vibrant dishes are the most delicious they’ve created yet.
Turkish Chef Sina Sucuka completed his culinary education at Johnson & Wales. Having worked in Mikla, Lokanta Maya, Maya Bozcaada and the sort, he moved to Italy to further his career. After having spent the Truffle Season in Bra’s “Ostâeria Bocca Buona”, Sina moved to the world’s culinary capital San Sebastion to work with 3 Michelin Star Pedro Subijana’s “Akelarre”. In 2013 he found himself in Girona at “El Celler de Can Roca” placed first spot on ‘San Pellegrino’s 50 Best’ list. Sina then returned to his home country to contribute to Mehmet Gürs’ ‘New Anatolian Cuisine’ project where he travelled throughout Turkey to engulf authentic Anatolian cooking techniques and exquisite tastes. Sina Sucuka carries on his culinary career currently in Berlin.
