Salon IKSV will host the Egyptian/Belgian singer-songwriter Tamino on Friday 25 May. Set to start at 22:00, tickets are priced at 60 TL (standing) and 45 TL (students) and are available via Biletix.
From the organizer:
21 year-old artist Tamino Moharam Fouad is named by his mother after the hero and prince in Mozart’s opera ‘The Magic Flute’. He started out as a typical teenage punk rocker and played in high school bands. Through his mother’s record collection he discovered Serge Gainsbourg, Tom Waits, and Oumou Sangaré. He was deeply influenced by his great-grandfather Moharam Fouad, an Arab actor and musician, and delved into the depths of Arabic music. His first single ‘Habibi’ was a result of this interest in Arabic culture, yet his music does not have eastern elements. Most listeners aptly compare him to Jeff Buckley. With his mesmerising vocals and musical sensibility inherited from Buckley, this will be his first time playing in Istanbul. Enjoy melancholy lyrics, hushed melodies, and sincere vocals.
