With Red Bull Music collaboration, MiniMuzikhol Presents: Fabio Della Torre and Rufus
FABIO DELLA TORRE
Fabio Della Torre aka Corcos is an Italian DJ/producer from Florence. A leading figure in Italy’s electronic music scene, Della Torre is the brains behind Bosconi, one of his country’s most esteemed house music imprints. Alongside Ennio Colaci, Della Torre also produces as one half of production duo, Minimono, themselves veritable purveyors of discerning electronic music. Della Torre’s DJ career began in earnest at Florence’s infamous Tenax club back in 1995. Since then he has appeared in practically every Italian nightclub of note, as well as a range of global institutions. Panorama Bar for example, hosted a Bosconi label showcase, while Concrete Paris, Tresor, DC10, Rex Club and Flash DC are all among those who have played host to Fabio’s unique sound.
Fabio’s association with Tenax is still well and truly alive today, as these days he DJs at the club as a monthly resident. An association that’s indicative of his timeless sound, his longstanding relationship with the club affords him a unique opportunity to showcase his wide-ranging skills to Florence’s many electronic music aficionados. As likely to spin deep house as he is minimal techno or more up-tempo funk numbers, Della Torre’s passion and unpredictable nature is a hallmark of his extensive DJ style.
In 2008, alongside Ennio Colaci Fabio founded Bosconi records, with its sublabel, Bosconi Extra Virgin (an outlet for more eclectic releases), following soon after. To date, Bosconi has released over seventy records, with A Guy Called Gerald, DJ Nature, Andres, Paul Johnson, Scott Grooves and San Proper just some of those they’ve played host to. Bosconi is equally dedicated to fostering emerging Italian talent, with Herva, Life’s Track, Nas1, Rufus, Dukwa, Riccio, Mass Prod and The Clover all equally responsible for the label’s quick ascension. Such is Bosconi’s reputation among in-the-know house heads, that in 2013, they had the distinction of being awarded Resident Advisor’s ‘Label of the Month’.
From a production perspective, Fabio’s solo works have appeared on the likes of Concrete Paris, Vibraphone, Robsoul, Inner Balance, Telegraph, Tuning Spork, Tenax and Oslo, while Cabanne, Marcel Fengler, Regen, Jay Haze, Eduardo De La Calle and Scott Grooves are among those who’ve remixed his work. Never one to pander to obvious trends or sounds, it’s with good reason that Fabio Della Torre is renowned as one of Italy’s finest electronic music exports.
RUFUS
Niccolo`Daniel Rufo, better known as Rufus, is a forward-thinker, 360° vinyl collector and technically impeccable DJ of guaranteed striking effect on dance-floors.
After moving to Berlin in 2013, beside collaborating as A&R advisor for Bosconi Records, he has widened his production perspectives and approaches, first as part of Tru West for Marmo Music (along with Mass Prod and Herve Corti) and as Nightdrivers together with Mass Prod in the field of big room house and techno. Nightdrivers Nightvisions EP and Nightlights EP, as much as the duo`s debut EP on Bosconi, have left the mark and a distinctive sound signature, a unique blend of house and techno, well known and played by the likes of Daniel Bell, Ricardo Villalobos, Zip, Raresh, Secretsundaze, Barbara Preisinger, Omar S and Cab Drivers, among others.
As in 2015, Rufus returned after 5 years from his first “Like A Virgin EP” with a solo Ep on Bosconi (‘ Black N’ Blues’ ) , further own productions on Bosconi with another EP in 2016 on Bosconi named “Stranger In Paradise” featuring a remix by Herva, on the lyonnese label Basse Resolution with “Wildflowers EP”, for the Lumbago label including a remix of his own track “Conseguenza” by berliner house dons Cab Drivers and more Nightdrivers jams planned to see the light on Holic Trax and Tenax from February 2017 onwards. Last but not least 2017 sees also, along with his mates Fabio della Torre and Massprod, the birth of the Bosconi Soundsystem production and dj team with their first releases “Back To Front” and the double 12″ “Unrequested States Of Bliss”.
Behind the decks, Rufus brings to the floor a musicality and eclecticism that reflect his vast music culture, from funky and jazzy vibes, deep and jackin house, techno, breaks, disco and all those stripped-down grooves and vibes, influenced by the sounds of London, Chicago and Detroit. His dj portfolio of appearances includes Panorama Bar, Watergate, Club der Visionaire, Chalet, Ohm, Hoppetosse, Propaganda Moscow, Circoloco at Detroit`s DEMF, Melt London, Tresor Berlin, Tenax Florenz, Dude Club Milan to name a few.
His restless research into both old school and the fresher forms of dance music have inspired many Italian artists gravitating around Bosconi Records circuit and the Florence scene.
MACIT
There were high and low times in the evolution of Istanbuls underground music scene. Dj Macit as one of the true oldschool generation of the city spinning the decks since 1990, he has seen them all. He was there when the scene was at its peak residenting the infamous clubs 20, High End and Crystal , when the times were rough. He also contributed a great deal of production work releasing on labels like Apparel, Vibe Me, Sound Architecture, Cumpa Limited and Tanzbar to name a few. So it seems , as long as the underground music story of the city continues, Macit will be there playing his part.
