If you are one of those who can’t help but pay all their attention to details and patterns of any building they get to visit, and if you are especially interested in Islamic Patterns and its geometry, then you should check out 2018’s Istanbul Study Trip. This year Art of Islamic Pattern is hosting this study trip for the 5th year. It will take place in İstanbul Tasarım Merkezi (Istanbul Design Center).
The Art of islamic Pattern tours the Islamic world for study tours and workshops, and they annually come to Istanbul. This year’s visit will be from 18th of June through the 22nd of June.

In June 2018 Art of Islamic Pattern will lead a four-day intensive workshop in Istanbul, Turkey.
This workshop will take place within the beautiful and exceptionally well-appointed Istanbul Design Centre, a 17th century Tekke (pilgrimage lodge), located in the historic heart of the city, with views overlooking Sinan’s Sokullu Mehmet Pasha mosque and the Bosphorus beyond.
In addition to daily practical classes in geometric and biomorphic design, there will be site visits to the some of most celebrated masterpieces of Ottoman architecture, including the Blue Mosque, the mosques of Rustem Pasha, Sokullu Mehmet Pasha and the Suleymaniye. There will also be al-fresco drawing and geometry classes, as well as an opportunity to gain practical experience of traditional Ebru painting with local master Alparslan Babaoğlu.
Note: As with all our study trips, all teaching material will be based upon local sources: on this trip the mosques of Istanbul. The content is different to our London courses.
