From the organizer:
Norwegian musician, songwriter and writer Jenny Hval is our guest on November 16th!
Jenny Hval; reflects her passionate perspective, questioning subjects such as art, feminism and sexuality, to her music. She produces extraordinary musical productions that emerge with her impressive and provocative lyric writing, together with her sound that blends folk, jazz, spoken word and electronic music genres with her deep vocals. Jenny Hval, who started her solo work under her own name with her debut album “Viscera” in 2011, attracted attention with her album “Innocence Is Kinky”, which was released two years later. The musician, who evolved from atmospheric and dreamy sounds to styles combining noise and indie rock, was influenced by the Norwegian jazz vocals of the 60s in his album “Apocalypse, Girl”, which was released in 2015 by Sacred Bones. Jenny Hval, who revealed her following albums under the influence of jazz, added instrumental and electronic elements to her music. The album “Blood Bitch” released in 2016; It was inspired by the horror and thriller films of the 70s, Hval’s past touring experiences and the gothic and metal scenes of his home Norway. She shared the album “The Practice of Love” in 2019, following “Blood Bitch”, which was appreciated by the audience and critics. Collaborating with many artists and having different projects, the musician’s experimental music project Lost Girls with Håvard Volden; she released his debut album “Menneskekollektivet” in 2021. His last album, “Classic Objects”, released in 2022 with the 4AD label, reflects Jenny Hval’s pop understanding. The isolation brought by the pandemic tells the simple stories of life that the artist wrote with the concept of “only me” by focusing on himself. When the album is pictured; A map emerges that contains not only the places from Hval’s past that he longs for, but also the imaginary future places where dreams, hallucinations, death and art can take him.
