So many events are happening in Istanbul at the moment, it becomes hard to run around trying to be everywhere. It’s tempting to just cover the whole city and enjoy every minute of good times and good music. How do you know if this will end up just like another night or a new epic adventure where you end up after partying with the DJ and company? Matinee Istanbul have done the selecting for you, having prepared a series of events that is bound to keep you entertained and chained to the dance floor.
A cosmopolitan mix of love, energy and always a bit of glitter — Matinee Istanbul invited some of their favorite DJs to make the cold autumn & winter days more lovely and full of joy.
Introducing Jakob Seidensticker, a member of the fantastic trio Wareika, who already shared their beautiful music at Chill-Out Festival in Istanbul & Çeşme. He will be delighting us with his amazing sound, coming again and again to entertain an audience that enjoys the chill factor. Catch him on Friday 21 October at indigo, kicking off at 23:00 with tickets priced at 40 TL.
Local talents are always highlighted with Evrim de Evrim on the decks till the morning hours bringing us to ecstasy mode! For the right warmp-up tunes, Matinee Istanbul founders and audio connoisseurs The Kazans (i.e. Mr. and Mrs. Kazan), will start weaving the eclectic night for you! Jakob Seidensticker was born in the beautiful and open-minded city of Hamburg in Northern Germany. His vinyl only DJ sets are melting house, old school house, Romanian techno and dubby chords with broken beats while also playing his own productions and track ideas.
Always on point. Not too early, never too late.
After listening to techno from Detroit Jakob Seidensticker began to learn more about the myths of DJing and his own style of mixing — this was about 20 years ago. At the same time he already started to produce his own electronic music based on his knowledge of other roots like jazz, classic music and rock.
Jakob Seidensticker is one-third of the highly respected and golden globe nominated Wareika trio. Wareika, Jakob with Henrik Raabe and Florian Schirmacher, is touring around the world and together have been producing and releasing music on more than well-known labels such as Perlon, Visionquest, Circus Company and Liebe just to name few. With Henrik Raabe from Wareika he also founded another live project called Silky Raven.
Their sound pulls you into a synthesizer created world, where you can find yourself in melodies and themes having elements of trance but never too trancy. The two have just released a collaboration on Damian Lazarus label Rebellion/Crosstown Rebels with the Lebanese producer Nesta to honor the oriental sound and tradition dressed up in a modern way. Jakob and Bardia Salour are one of Hamburg’s best DJ and production duos called Seidensticker & Salour who developed their trademark, the dubby techno, on labels like URSL, Sleep is Commercial and Welcome to Masomenos with a little slice of old school house to play it outright in clubs.
Together with his good friend Bardia they’ve done a lot of huge parties by booking international artists for almost 10 years and half of the time in Solomun’s former club EGO in Hamburg.
