Babylon Bomonti, as part of Garanti Jazz Green, will host Norwegian talents Jaga Jazzist on Thursday 16 February. Doors are set to open at 21:30, with tickets priced at 40 TL and available via Biletix.
From the organizer:
Jaga Jazzist had their breakthrough with their 1996 debut album Jævla Jazzist Grete Stitz. The band uses instruments such as the trumpet, trombone, vibraphone, percussion and tuba with an electronic background. After the 2001 album “A Livingroom Hush” had been named Jazz Album of the Year by BBC, the band got the backing of JørgenTræen, the founder of “Duper Studio”, which hosted the likes of Röyksopp and Kings of Convenience, and released their first album on the label Ninja Tune, “The Stix”, in 2002. Following “What We Must”, which included hits like “All I Know is Tonight”, “Stardust Hotel” and “Oslo Skyline”, Jaga Jazzist took some time off, 5 years to be exact, to come back in 2010 with the album “One-Armed Bandit”. The band received the Spel-lemannprisen award, the so-called Norwegian Grammy, with this album. In 2015, they released “Starfire” which is an album focussed more on electronic elements. This album could be interpreted as a new page in the saga of Jaga Jazzist, without a major diversion from their roots. Jaga Jazzist will take the stage at Babylon on 16 February.
