Kültür Istanbul, as part of their 34 Calling series, kick off by inviting Belgian outfit Hooverphonic to take center stage at Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre, alongside an accompanying orchestra. Featured in 2021’s Eurovision Song Contest, their trip-hop influenced sounds that incorporate a variety of genres are destined to impress. The 34 Calling concert series of Kültür AŞ, association of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, begins with the Hooverphonic with Orchestra concert to be held on June 11 at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre. Tickets are on Biletix.
Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre, which has been hosting Turkey’s most prestigious artists for years, will be the first venue of 34 Calling, where international artists will take over the stage.
The first concert of the series starts on June 11 with Hooverphonic with Orchestra. Belgian band Hooverphonic, synthesizes trip-hop with psychedelic, pop and polyphonic elements since its establishment in 1995. The performance will take place at Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theater on June 11. It wıll be the first orchestral performance of Hooverphonic in Turkey.
Who is Hooverphonic?
Hooverphonic is a Belgian band formed in October 1995. Considered as one of the leading bands of the trip-hop movement that left their mark on the 2000s, the group took their sound beyond this genre and achieved a mix of alternative, electronica, electro pop and rock styles. They represented Belgium in the final of the Eurovision song contest in 2021 with the song “The Wrong Place”.
