The recording project of Canadian singer-songwriter and former guitarist of Mac DeMarco Peter Sagar, HomeShake is here in Istanbul! Sagar met Mac DeMarco in high school. After touring extensively with DeMarco, he decided to turn to his own music in 2014. Over six albums until today, his journey has taken him from sturdy guitar-based indie-pop to a bleary-eyed take on lo-fi R&B. There is a strong sense of straying cloud-like landscapes in his music. He looks back out at the world as if through a light fog, composing songs that feel grounded and intimate, even as they explore a dispersed feeling of isolation. The project’s debut album ‘In the Shower’ was followed by ‘Midnight Snack’ and critically acclaimed ‘Fresh Air’, which he wrote while binge reading Haruki Murakami. His fourth full-length endeavour ‘Helium’ was the first album recorded and mixed exclusively by Sagar alone in his apartment in Montreal’s Little Italy neighbourhood in just a few months. Evet since ‘Helium’, he started introducing synthesizers into his music and gotten more interested in texture. The 2021 album ‘Under the Weather’ was an ode to depression. His latest, ‘Pareidolia Catalog’ is a 4-hour mix of 126 lo-fi instrumental tracks.
