As part of the latest season of impressive offerings from IKSV, the relatively new psychedelic outfit taking the scene by storm, Glass Beams, is venturing to Salon IKSV on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 March. Tickets are available via Passo (Tuesday/Wednesday). (Editor’s Note: This event seems to have since sold out.)
From the organizer:
Although it’s been a short time since their debut in 2021, Glass Beams has created a new wave of psychedelic music with their hypnotic performances at festivals such as Primavera Sound and Best Kept Secret. Rajan Silva, the founding member of the band, laid out his map for their first EP Mirage, found the Indian city his father left behind to emigrate to Australia when he was 17, and set out to listen to the musicians who left their mark on the region. He became acquainted with the psychedelic, classical disco and freaky jazz influences of Indian pop in the 70s, and the Western interpretations of the sitar. An album was inevitable. The 20-minute ‘sessions’ that they saved exclusively for their live audience were so popular that they were recorded by their fans, leaked to the internet and listened to millions of times. Glass Beams did not leave this gesture of their fans unrequited, and finally recorded their most popular improvisations for their new EP Mahal, which will be released on 22 March.
