SEIBA International Storytelling Center will host globally renowned storyteller Geeta Ramanujam for “Indian Myths from an Indian Storyteller”, a performance and workshop, on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 October. Tuesday’s storytelling performance will take place at DAM, from 20:00 to 21:00, and are priced at 35 TL (30 TL for students). Geeta Ramanujam, during her Istanbul visit will meet with story lovers of Istanbul via a performance and a workshop. Geeta will also perform in schools and will teach in the two-year certificate program in SEIBA: The Way of the Storyteller.
A Story Feast
You are invited to an amazing story feast. An internationally renowned storyteller Geeta Ramanujam will meet with story lovers from Istanbul. In this particular event, Geeta will tell Indian and Greek myths. Since she is known as one of the goddesses of storytelling, you will definitely enjoy this one-hour-show.
A Unique Perspective on Storytelling
At this storytelling workshop, which can be described as a first step to the world of narration, an Indian storyteller, instructor and academician Geeta Ramanujam will share her experiences about the art of storytelling and her pedagogical knowledge through games and telling stories for 3 hours.
“What is Storytelling? Which type of narrative techniques are used in the world, especially in India? These techniques are used for what, how and at which concept?” If you want to learn the answers of these questions and/or if you want to add new explorations, new wonders and new questions to your questions about storytelling, this workshop is exactly for you! This workshop is also a great opportunity to see the art of a worldwide storyteller!
About Geeta Ramanujam
Geeta Ramanujam besides being an internationally renowned storyteller is an educator, academician and administrator. She is the Executive Director of Kathalaya Trust which is the culmination of her vision and wisdom Geeta uses storytelling as an effective educational and cultural tool in many leading educational institutions in India and abroad
Geeta Ramanujam is the founder of Kathalaya and an Ashoka Fellow. She has also eestablished and founded the Academy of Storytelling; the only globally recognized Academy for Storytelling in the World.
She has had performances of storytelling at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, UK, International festival at Brazil, Storywood festival at Sweden, World Tales festival Poland, the International Storytelling Centre USA and many other festivals. She is also the Indian Coordinator for the International Storytelling Network –RIC besides being the Indian coordinator of the Indian Storytelling Network.
Geeta uses storytelling as an effective educational and cultural tool in training for parents, teachers, NGO’s and corporate sectors both in India and abroad. Over 70,000 people have undergone her training programs.
