(PAST EVENT) 33rd Akbank Jazz Festival: Erik Truffaz “Rollin’ & Clap!” @ Babylon

The 33rd Akbank Jazz Festival is hosting the renowned trumpeter Erik Truffaz at Babylon on Saturday 7 October. The concert promises to be an evening of musical transcendence as Truffaz and his ensemble bring their innovative and emotional prowess to life. Doors open at 21:00 and tickets are available via Biletix.

From the organizer:

For more than 30 years, Erik Truffaz has been striking out for unknown territory, ignoring what is expected from him and straining against what is foisted on him to create in his own manner. His trumpet is more than just an instrument; he uses it as a tool to extract the emotion buried in everything that passes through him. His musical journey echoes with variety and diversity. This journey has brought him to the album sessions on the banks of the River Ganges, to collaborations with the Malian diva Rokia Traoré, and to compositions for cinematic narratives and symphony orchestras. On Rollin’, his return to Blue Note Records, he brought his own interpretation to theme music from classic films like La Strada, L’Ascenseur Pour L’Echafaud, and River of No Return. On October 7th he will be returning to Istanbul, where he will bring his latest adventures and experiences to life on the stage of Babylon.

Marcello Giuliani: Bass
Alexis Anérilles: Fender Rhodes
