Zorlu PSM,as part of the Vestel #gururlayerli concert series, will host percussionist Burhan Öçal and the Istanbul Oriental Ensemble on Saturday 22 October. Set to start at 21:00 on the drama stage, tickets are priced from 50 TL to 70 TL and available via their ticket page.

Burhan Öçal, the world famous Turkish percussionist, will be in Zorlu PSM along with his band İstanbul Oriental Ensemble on October 22 as a part of the Vestel #gururlayerli concerts.
The İstanbul Oriental Ensemble, which successfully combines Turkish and Balkan music, was formed by Burhan Öçal in 1991.
Having developed an interest in music with the encouragement of his parents, Öçal’s first performance was in Zurich in 1979. He had a chance to work with musicians such as Pierre Favre, Maria Joao Pires, Elliot Fisk and Joe Zawinul & Symphonic Orchestra during his years in Switzerland. These collaborations led to his aim of merging the styles of different geographies and Öçal did so, concentrating mainly on classical music, classical Turkish music and Ottoman Court Music.
Being also able to play instruments such as the bağlama, tambour, darbuka and oud, Burhan Öçal made tremendous impact with his performances in the jazz festivals of Montreal, Montreux, Chicago, Paris, Rome, Vienna and Berlin.
Öçal brought instruments such as the zither, oud, violin, clarinet and percussion together in his band called İstanbul Oriental Ensemble. From this collaboration of instruments, two magnificent albums titled Gypsy Rum (1995) and Sultan’s Secret Door (1997) were born. Both of these albums won the German Record Critics Award.
Burhan Öçal & İstanbul Oriental Ensemble, the band which has created many precious works of music for the world while representing the harmony of Turkish and Balkan music, will be in Zorlu PSM on October 22 as a part of the Vestel #gururlayerli concerts!
