Balfolk Istanbul is hosting the Balfolk Istanbul Festival for the second time. It will take place between Friday 11 and Sunday 13 May. For more details be sure to check the official event page.
From the organizer:
Balfolk means European traditional dances that include group, couple, line dances. Some are very joyful and lively, like the Circassian Circle and the Scottish, while others are smooth like the Waltz or sensual like the Mazurka.
On Saturday and Sunday afternoon, professional dance and music teachers will give workshops, with a focus on the Italian tradition with guests from that country. There will also be dance workshop for beginners to give the new dancers the opportunity to enjoy the balls.
On evenings, guest and local bands will animate balls. The guest band Galion will play his French repertoire and Mario from Folk.In.Fo will play Balfolk covers and Italian tunes. From Istanbul, Deli Reçel will play different covers of Balfolk bands from everywhere, with a touch of Balkan music.
The festival will be held in different places:
Friday & Saturday: Cezayir Restaurant, Hayriye Cd, 12
Sunday: Ziba, Akasu Sk, 10 / Tergah, Yeniçarşı Cd, 20A / Galata Tower
Prices:
1 workshop: 15 TL
1 ball: 30 TL
4 workshops: 50 TL
Whole festival pass: 100 (adult) /80 TL (student)
