Alun Robert is a Scot by birth living in Southern England. He has travelled extensively across the UK, Continental Europe, North and South America, to Asia, and to the Middle East. After an initial trip to Türkiye in 1971, he became a regular visitor to İstanbul during the early part of this millennium developing a fondness for the City’s community, culture, and cuisine. Although he writes in most genre, he is a prolific creator of lyrical free verse. The subject matter of his poetry extends from mankind to animalia, from nature to the supernatural, from conurbations to deserts, from history to the present, from life to beyond death, from temporal to pastoral, from transportation to the transparent, from humour to serious aspects of our existence. His success in poetry competition ranges from the British Isles to Continental Europe to North America. He has been published by numerous literary magazines, anthologies, and webzines in the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, India, Türkiye, South Africa, Kenya, USA, and Canada. Since 2018, he has been a frequent contributor to The Ekphrastic Review community from Canada. As a member of the Federation of Writers Scotland, he was a featured writer in 2019. During 2021, he was the spotlighted poet in Odd Mag of South Africa. He is an articulate reader of his poetry at live events and through the medium of Zoom.
