Heavy metal powerhouse Ashes of Ares will bring Iced Earth’s legendary album The Dark Saga to life on stage in Istanbul for its 30th anniversary. Presented by 100% Metal in collaboration with Black Label Events and Hammer Music, the band will perform at IF Beşiktaş on Saturday, October 11th as part of their special European tour. Founded in 2012 by vocalist Matt Barlow (ex-Iced Earth, Pyramaze) and bassist/guitarist Freddie Vidales (ex-Iced Earth), Ashes of Ares has forged its own identity while honoring the roots of classic American power metal. Their sound blends soaring vocal lines with thunderous riffs, drawing on the duo’s decades of experience and their shared legacy in one of metal’s most influential bands. Since their formation, the group has released three full-length albums that showcase both power and depth, including their most recent work Emperors and Fools (2022).
The evening will mark a rare and historic tribute to The Dark Saga, the 1996 Iced Earth masterpiece inspired by Todd McFarlane’s cult comic book character Spawn. Known for its dark atmospheres, epic riffs, and unforgettable choruses, the album remains a fan favorite nearly three decades later. For the first time ever, Ashes of Ares will perform all ten songs from start to finish, delivering the album in its entirety live on stage.
In addition to The Dark Saga, the band will also present a selection of tracks from their own catalog, ensuring fans experience both the nostalgia of a classic album and the vitality of Ashes of Ares’ modern material. This unique concert promises a night of passion, power, and pure heavy metal energy.
