The exhibition will have a welcoming party in the opening day at 6:30 pm. It will be open to visitors daily between 10:00 am to 6:30 pm except Sundays.
From the organizer:
In Oriental culture, Phoenix (Simorgh) is a very famous mythological bird which represents a search for yourself. Phoenix and the birds are the theme of Nerkiz Akçura’s exhibition. The artist interpreted this theme in her art works with her very own unique style.
According to the myth, a group of birds start their tough and long journey to reach Phoenix. However throughout the journey, they realize that this journey is actually about finding themselves, who they really are. The artist, Nerkiz Akçura also defines art as such a journey, about finding ourselves. She believes that this exhibition will impress both the eyes and the souls of the audience and will also take them to that journey within themselves.
Those mythological birds have an important place especially in Ottoman, Persian and Mughal cultures. They have been used a lot in miniature art works. Today’s artists get also inspired by those mythological birds and use them in their own works combining with their own style.
In this exhibition of Nerkiz Akçura and her art class group, the audience will find Nerkiz Akçura’s contemporary art pieces in which she used acrylic paint. The audience will also enjoy the miniature art pieces done by Nerkiz Akçura’s art class group; Handan Bağdatlıoğlu, Necla Özkandemir, Arzu Canan Tulumbacı, Cansu Timuçin, Hicret Aydoğan and Zafer Çoker.
