Since their formation in Amsterdam, Altın Gün have been at the forefront of a movement that has reintroduced the sounds of the 1970s Turkish psych-rock scene to an international audience. Their early albums, such as On and Gece, were instrumental in this revival, earning critical acclaim for their ability to retain the emotional core of the original folk songs while adding layers of funk, disco, and space rock.

By consistently drawing from the rich heritage of artists like Selda Bağcan and Erkin Koray, the band has created a bridge between generations, proving that these melodies remain as resonant today as they were decades ago.

The decision to dedicate an entire album to Neşet Ertaş deepens this connection to their roots. Ertaş, a master of the bağlama and a central figure in the Abdal musical tradition, left behind a body of work deeply embedded in cultural consciousness. In Garip, Altın Gün approach these works with a sense of reverence, using their signature soundscape to highlight the timelessness of his storytelling. The result is a project that feels both deeply personal and culturally significant, offering a fresh perspective on a musical legacy that continues to define the region’s identity.

On stage, Altın Gün are known for their high-energy performances that translate the intricate details of their studio recordings into a powerful live experience. The interplay between the traditional saz and modern synthesisers creates a unique dynamic, moving from hypnotic, rhythmic grooves to expansive, psychedelic crescendos. This concert provides a rare opportunity to hear the works of a legendary bard reimagined for a global, modern audience.
