Greek singer and songwriter Giorgos Kakosaios brings contemporary laïko, the Greek popular music tradition rooted in expressive vocals and themes of love and heartbreak, to Turkcell Stage Zorlu PSM on Sunday 8 November. One of the younger artists reshaping the genre for a new generation, Kakosaios combines the emotional directness of classic Greek popular song with polished pop production and a growing catalogue of self-written material. His rise reflects the continued appeal of laïko in contemporary Greek music, where familiar melodic traditions meet modern arrangements and a new generation of performers. Tickets are available via BuBilet.
Born in 2000, Kakosaios grew up surrounded by music as the son of established Greek singer Giannis Ploutarchos. He began performing at an early age and developed his own songwriting skills alongside his vocal training, eventually composing material for other artists as well as himself. His recording career took shape in 2020, with early releases including “Erotas Moiazei” and “Psemata”. In 2021, he received the Best Newcomer award at the MAD Video Music Awards, marking an important step in his emergence as an artist in his own right.
His subsequent singles, including “Min Tis Peite”, “Kane Mas Ti Hari” and “Savvato Vrady”, established a recognisable style built around melodic hooks, romantic narratives and the dramatic phrasing associated with laïko. While his connection to Ploutarchos inevitably places him within a well-established musical lineage, Kakosaios has also developed a distinct identity through his work as a composer and his collaborations with other Greek performers.
In 2025, he released his first full-length album, Mathe Mou Ton Erota, bringing together 14 tracks that reflect his approach to contemporary Greek pop and laïko. The record represents a significant milestone in a career previously driven largely by individual singles, offering a fuller picture of his musical direction. Live, his repertoire draws on the genre’s enduring emphasis on vocal interpretation and emotional connection, bringing together newer material and songs that have helped establish his place among Greece’s emerging popular singers.
