Co-creator and performer Ramesh Meyyappan, a Singapore-born, Scotland-based Deaf theatre artist, has spent over two decades pioneering accessible visual drama. His practice blends physical theatre, illusion, and British Sign Language to create narratives that transcend spoken word boundaries. Collaborating alongside George Mann, co-artistic director of the acclaimed UK theatre company Theatre Ad Infinitum, the pair developed a distinct staging language that prioritizes sensory resonance over dialogue, turning movement into a precise emotional tool.
In Veda Ritüeli, the creative team leverages minimalist stage design and nuanced choreography to investigate the quiet spaces after a profound farewell. Mann’s direction emphasizes spatial awareness and physical rhythm, allowing the performers to communicate complex psychological states through everyday gestures and symbolic props.
