Afterglow, the new sunset festival from Picnic & Gathering, arrives at The Roof at The Ritz-Carlton on Saturday 15 August, presented together with Common Culture. Headlining the inaugural edition is Grammy-winning electronic duo Bob Moses with a special Club Set, joined by Beiz.ila, Konuralp, and Nisa. Built around the transition from sunset into night, the event brings Picnic & Gathering’s seven-year history of music-led gatherings into a more intimate, limited-capacity festival format, with a lineup moving through house, electronic, and club-focused sounds. Bob Moses have spent more than a decade occupying the space between electronic music and traditional songwriting. Formed by Canadians Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance after reconnecting in New York, the duo developed their early sound within the city’s underground electronic scene, combining deep house production with live vocals, guitar, and the structures of alternative rock. Their 2015 debut album Days Gone By became an international breakthrough, led by “Tearing Me Up,” which earned them two Grammy nominations and a win for Best Remixed Recording through RAC’s remix of the track.
Subsequent albums Battle Lines, The Silence in Between, and Blink have seen Bob Moses continue to move between club music and song-driven electronica, incorporating darker synth textures, pop songwriting, and increasingly expansive production. Their catalog has allowed them to operate comfortably across both live-band and DJ environments, from major festivals and concert stages to late-night club settings.
For Afterglow, Bob Moses appear in their Club Set format, placing greater emphasis on the dancefloor side of their musical identity. Beiz.ila, Konuralp, and Nisa complete the program, extending the evening through a selection of local electronic sounds as the festival moves from its sunset opening into the night.
