The 27th Istanbul Theatre Festival hosted by IKSV is thrilled to present “Benched,” a powerful and thought-provoking theatrical production that promises to leave a lasting impact on audiences. This eagerly awaited performance is set to take place on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 November at the iconic Süreyya Opera House (Süreyya Operası). Doors open at 20:00 with tickets available via Passo (Friday, Saturday).
“Benched” tells a compelling story that resonates with audiences on a profound level. The production explores themes of identity, belonging, and the human connection, delving into the complex lives of its characters with depth and authenticity.
From the organizer:
Benched is a brutally honest bodily tale about life’s big and very small questions – a notion of finding one’s place in life and settling down on the bench of life. Five male dancers perform in Johan Kølkjær’s set design of oversized and mobile benches that are constantly being transformed. Award-winning choreographer Stephanie Thomasen has created the concept and choreography for the performance, where the dancers with great musicality, physicality and interaction examine human relationships.
