As part of their PSM Loves Summer series, Zorlu PSM will host internationally beloved Australian singer-songwriter Chet Faker, set to perform on Tuesday 21 June. Taking place on the main Turkcell Stage, doors are set to open at 20:30, with the performance starting at 21:30. Continuing his productions in electronica, downtempo, soul and trip hop genres, singer and songwriter Chet Faker will be at Turkcell Stage on June 21 as part of PSM Loves Summer!
Nicholas James Murphy, also known as Chet Faker, started his music career with Thinking in Textures, which he released in 2012. With his debut EP, Chet Faker won prestigious awards such as the Australian Independent Records Awards and the Rolling Stone Australia Awards.
Faker continued his rise with his debut studio album, Built on Glass, released in 2014. While the album topped the ARIA Charts, it found its place in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2014.
The artist, who signed the instrumental albums Run Fast Sleep Naked in 2019 and Music for Silence in 2020 and released those two albums under the name Nick Murphy, made an assertive comeback to Chet Faker in 2020 with the single ‘Low’. Benefiting from the four-year ‘Nick Murphy’ calmness, Chet Faker produced enjoyable and energetic productions that ‘just feel good’ at his studio in New York City. This is how Hotel Surrender came into existence, where 10 bright and lively songs came together.
On Hotel Surrender, Chet Faker wrote and produced all the songs himself, just like his 2014 LP Built on Glass, and finished most of the songs before got COVID-19 in March 2020. Murphy lost his father soon after the pandemic caused a worldwide lockdown. After this shocking event, ‘making feel-good music’ took on a deeper meaning for Chet Faker.
Although Murphy isn’t sure what the future holds for now, he’s excited to bring Chet Faker back with his feel-good music, and he’s coming to Zorlu PSM on June 21 to share this excitement with you!
