Mother Nature
I am neither like the verse of poets
Nor the lines of novels…
I am not the one you see when you come home…
Not at all the one, your eyes meet on the streets.
You know neither the one who gave birth to you properly nor the one who raised you.
You are a complete stranger to the one you sleep with, completely distant from the one you love.
All the definitions you make about me are actually a trap set for me.
You have no idea what does it mean for a fertile being, to live for centuries being ashamed of their breasts.

If you consider just a little, you will see immediately;
I am not sacrificed to the gods…
I am not ignored…
I am not forced to hide my existence…
I am not punished by loneliness within crowds…
I am not imprisoned into houses, rooms, kitchens…
I am not bought and sold like a property…
I am not restrained from being myself…
I am not cast away from life with the lie of blessing…
A world where I am not being ashamed to be a woman…
Couldn’t make humankind forget what justice is, so easily.

Mother Nature – Cem Sağbil
Ada Modern Art Gallery

Kuşadası Ada Modern Art Gallery opened on June 3 with the aim of exhibit modern and contemporary artworks from Turkey and from all around the world. Ada Modern hosts famous sculptor Cem Sağbil with Mother Nature exhibition.
Cem Sağbil’s solo exhibition Mother Nature brings together the artworks that focus on femininity, strength, and endurance.
Mother Nature portrays metal cut paintings and bronze-casting figurative sculptures inspired by Aegean mythology.
Cem Sağbil questions the meaning of nature for human beings and adds: “Even though humans have been exploding nature since the modern age, mother nature still continues to give us flowers.” Mother Nature is calling out to us with amazon warriors and goddesses that are entwined with earth.
You are invited to witness mother nature’s persevering and majestic journey through Cem Sağbil’s unique perspective.
Mother Nature is open to visitors at Ada Modern between 12 October – 13 November 2021.
