From the organizer:
He started producing in 2010 under the moniker Zoo Kid. Inspired by the Elvis Presley film King Creole, he began releasing his first works as King Krule. In an interview with The Guardian, he cited The Pixies and The Libertines for his inspiration to make music. At the age of 19, he was hailed as the wunderkind of the new generation upon releasing his album ‘6 Feet beneath the Moon’ in 2013. Populated by songs that deal with his mental health issues during his adolescence, his clinical depression and sleep deprivation, the album displayed a competency usually seen in a middle aged music legend’s career best. His unique sound which he cultivated by sifting through the genres that nourished him throughout his life had flourishes of punk jazz, hip-hop, trip-hop, post-punk, and indie-rock. He was hailed as the heir apparent to Joe Strummer and Billy Bragg’s thrones. At the end of 2015, he released a hip-hop album under his own name that contained illustrations, essays, and a short documentary. He accompanied Mount Kimbie in many of their songs. Admired by Frank Ocean, Beyoncé, and Kanye West, he had Ocean persistently pursuing him for collaboration. He heralded his new album ‘The OOZ’ by releasing new tracks towards the end of 2017. In line with the current trend in alternative music and the hip-hop scene, the 19-track album leans towards jazz. He will be in Istanbul for the first time as part of his tour to support the album.
