The Away Days @ Böcek Live

Böcek Cafe will host The Away Days on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 December. The concert starts at 18:00, with tickets available at Böcek Live’s box office. There is no age limit in the event.

From the organizer:

Since their early days they played at international and local festivals such as South by Southwest, The Great Escape, Glimps, United Islands, One Love, Nilüfer, and Newcomers and were the opening act for the likes of Paul Banks, Belle & Sebastian, Massive Attack, Portishead, Wild Beasts, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Local Natives. They generated big press internationally; the Guardian said that ‘they can take dream pop to the top in Istanbul’ whereas the Independent put them on its list of ‘Must Listen New Bands of 2017’. Their singles premiered at magazines such as SPIN, NME, and Clash. They made the BIRP playlist, which indie music lovers follow religiously. Their songs became staples at Vogue shows, and stores like Cheap Monday, H&M, and Topshop. First time listeners find it hard to believe that they are from Istanbul. Their travels around the globe had an effect on their chords resulting in their moving away from classic indie rock melodies towards the sphere of shoegaze, dream pop and psychedelic. They gained word-of-mouth through their live shows in which they take the stage as a trio and fill up the whole room with their atmospheric sound.

At the moment, they are proceeding with their concerts where they sing songs from their first album, “Dreamed at Dawn” with their fans, and working for the surprise clips for some songs in the album. Now, they will be at Böcek Live stage in the most liveable place in the city, Moda, for two nights in a row for two warm and intimate concerts. Moreover, this concert doesn’t have the borders of minus or plus eighteen!
